What, too easy?

Quote of the Day

"In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress."

You can't make up this kind of crazy......

The homosexual agenda and religious liberty cannot co-exist. America will have to choose between the two, because we cannot have both. Every advance of the homosexual agenda comes at the expense of religious liberty. Every time - every single time - the homosexual agenda advances, religious liberty is forced into retreat.
The day has already arrived when it has become a criminal offense for a Christian to act on his convictions. The day is coming when it will be a criminal offense to have Christian convictions at all.

A Motto to Live By

Seo sláinte an tséitéara, an ghadaí, an trodaí, agus an óltóra!
Má dhéanann tu séitéireacht, go ndéana tú séitéireacht ar an mbás,
Má ghoideann tú, go ngoide tú croí mná;
Má throideann tú, go dtroide tú i leith do bhráthar,
Agus má ólann tú, go n-óla tú liom féin.

If you cheat, may you cheat death.
If you steal, may you steal a woman's heart.
If you fight, may you fight for a brother.
And if you drink, may you drink with me.

Wise words from the GOP......to the GOP

"I think the Republican Party would be well advised to get the heck out of people's bedrooms and let these things get decided by states," said [Rudy] Giuliani during a break from his tour of New Hampshire. "We'd be a much more successful political party if we stuck to our economic, conservative roots."

The political rebranding of Isolationism....

Or, how your elected officials continue to treat you like idiots.
Its return today, as well as the ease and frequency with which it is made, are a reminder that a step away from foreign policy orthodoxy and toward a position of urging restraint -- no matter how tepid -- can make one susceptible to the isolationist charge. It's only from the perspective of that orthodoxy would the recent warnings of American overstretch could be considered a retreat from the global stage.

If anything, the political debate in Washington is not between isolationists and internationalists. It's a far more constricted discussion between those who want to see the U.S. maintain its position as the world's predominant power and those who want to see the U.S. maintain its position as the world's predominant power slightly less. A debate about whether U.S. global dominance is actually in the country's best interests is one that the United States need to be having - not a false one over whether a new wave of isolationism is afoot. It isn't.

Badass Quote of the Day

Roger Clemens goes on trial for lying . . . to politicians. Which is a bit like putting a woman on trial for flashing her breasts at a stripper.

I generally loathe the UN....

But in the spirit of not shooting the messenger, I will grudgingly admit that the latest report on Afghanistan - The situation in Afghanistan and its implications for international peace and security, contains quite a bit of reporting not found on US airwaves. Sad considering the enormous effort and loss of life and limb that our nation is enduring in that region.

Do American Indians celebrate Independence Day like the rest of us do?

Just a question I have after perusing through the Declaration of Independence this morning....and finding the words:
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

This weekend.......remember

The '4th of July' is an excuse for a storewide sale. This weekend marks Independence Day.

Your tax dollars at work

The final bill for U.S. military involvement in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan could be as much as $4.4 trillion, according to a comprehensive report Tuesday.

In the 10 years since American troops were sent into Afghanistan, the federal government has already spent $2.3 trillion to $2.7 trillion, say the authors of the study by Brown University’s Watson Institute for International Studies.

The report calculates not only direct spending on the conflicts but also the long-term costs of caring for wounded veterans and projected war spending from 2012-20.

At a minimum, according to the authors of the study, the final cost for these military engagements will be $3.7 trillion. But the report also points out that their estimates do not include at least $1 trillion more in interest payments and other costs that cannot yet be quantified. Indeed, the report criticized the U.S. Congress and the Pentagon for poor accounting.

Although the number of U.S. soldiers killed in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have been made public, the report notes, it is not yet clear how many soldiers return to the United States with injuries and illnesses. New disability claims are submitted on an ongoing basis, and many injuries among U.S. contractors have not been reported publicly, further complicating calculations of the costs of war.
Just imagine if we fought Al Qaeda with smart power, didn't invade Iraq, and cut the encyclopedic catalog of entitlements....how much more solvent our economy would be......
